Keep pressing my button...

Tests like this help the design team at ASL to answer difficult questions and deliver great products.

There are now hundreds of RPA01 Radio Microphone Transmitters in use on London Underground and in Public Address systems throughout the world.  There's integrity in the design process behind each and every one of them.

We began with a comprehensive human factors review with London Underground platform staff and took candidate designs through a rigorous set of tests which attempted to simulate the everday stresses that these microphones are placed under.

Here you can see the push to talk button on an RPA01 being pressed 186,00 times to find the most durable rubber compound.  Then there's the test to find right button pressure for staff to use the unit all day without getting sore thumbs, or the best way of protecting the screen from a forced impact on a wall or platform edge.

We even found a way to keep biscuit crumbs out of the charger units in the staff canteen.  Because we care about this stuff too.
